Who We Are:
Pilipinas Panorama Community (PPC) is a thematic Wikimedia organization founded by Wikimedians committed to Wikimedia’s vison of a world where every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge. Based in the National Capital Region of the Philippines, PPC brings together advocates from all walks of life committed to pan-Philippine culture, traditions and diverse history.

Our Community Mission:
We aspire to further the global availability of free knowledge particularly from the Philippines. We advocate the preservation of our cultural heritage, values and folklore through literature, photography, geography and advocacy.

Vision:
We envision knowledge that is freely accessible; where cultural heritage is preserved and valued; and diverse voices are equitably represented in the global digital space.

Our Story

PPC was established by its founders in 2022 abetted by discussions of Freedom of Panorama (FoP) and copyright clarity in the Philippines, from a presentation of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) in February 2021; and the need for a committed FoP advocacy group to further its advocacy as part of a larger cultural perspective.

The Pilipinas Panorama Community therefore commenced as an independent organization in Manila, in proximity to the country’s cultural and official agencies, to heed this call. The organization gained further momentum in January 2023 with a convergence of leaders from different Philippine Wikimedia affiliates, strengthening PPC as a collaborative force in the country’s Wikimedia ecosphere.
